City Arts is offering a commission of £1500 to an artist, or artists collective, to run a programme of workshops that lead to the creation of an artwork for our newly renovated outdoor space.

The successful artist(s) will work with the organisation from the 23rd July until the work is revealed to the public on the 25/26th August.

You will be expected to run open workshops on Tuesdays and Thursdays (mornings and afternoons) for both existing groups at City Arts and drop-ins.  Should it be needed, our workshop space will be available to you for use in-between these sessions, every day apart from Friday.

There is a materials budget of £500 for the residency.

We would like this project to make use our new outdoor space, and welcome proposals from environmental artists, gardeners, as well as visual artists or artists working in other art forms who are able to respond to the space.

This project is part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, and we expect artists to embrace City Arts approach to person-centred working, wellbeing and community engagement. We hope the open workshops, as well as being creative, will also offer members of the community a place to come together and socialise.

If you would like to come and visit the outdoor space, please contact Alison or Alma on 0115 9505 251, and we can arrange a site visit.
