Meet the Team

Michaela has over 40 years of experience working in the arts as a curator, promoter and funder. She is the former Director of Attenborough Arts Centre, at the University of Leicester, and has previously worked for Nottingham City Council museum service and Arts Council England. In 2013, she was awarded an MBE for her services to the arts. She has lived in Nottingham since 1977.

Frances is a Chartered Certified Accountant. For the last last thirty years, she has been employed in a number of Finance roles, in retail, manufacturing and service industries. She supports businesses to understand the financial impact of their decisions and helps facilitate cost efficiency work. Frances brings the financial skills and experience she has gained to City Arts, whilst continuing to expand her knowledge.

Kevin Love is the Deputy Dean of the School of Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University, a member of Nottingham Citizens Leadership Group and a Trustee of City Arts, Nottingham. His current research and practice concern the intersection of democratic and knowledge deficits in society, and creative ways of reimagining the role of the modern civic university.

Boseda is a Nottingham based independent Creative Engagement Manager who is dedicated to making innovative arts projects in collaboration with diverse community groups and young people. Her work explores race, identity, place and social justice issues. She has 20 years experience working in the visual arts sector locally, nationally and internationally. She has collaborated with idle women Lancashire, Mark Deveraux Projects Manchester, Goldsmiths University of London, Nottingham Contemporary, National Justice Museum, Tate Modern, The University of Texas at Austin, The Legacy Makers and Bright Ideas Nottingham.

Martin is passionate about the value of the arts in life. By day he is the Director of the Institute of Mental Health and Professor at the University of Nottingham. The Institute has worked with City Arts for many years hosting exhibitions and also has its own People’s Choir. Martin’s own research focuses on improving life and care for people with dementia and their families. On the artistic side he sings and writes poetry and other stuff.

James is currently Head of Business and Development for Nottingham Lakeside Arts; the University of Nottingham’s public arts programme. James previously worked for a variety of music charities across the East Midlands, led the arts programme for Newark and Sherwood District Council and was the Director for Thoresby Courtyard, a thriving visitor attraction on a private estate in North Nottinghamshire. James studied Music at the University of Sussex and singing at Birmingham Conservatoire. James is currently Chair of the University Arts Centres Network.

Michèle joined the board in 2014 and brings particular expertise and experience in disabilty and equality issues. She is a performer (one half of comedy duo "Bitter and Twisted" who appeared at the Derby Comedy Festival in 2015) and is also a photographer and digital artist. Michèle also works in individual and organisational development and is a qualified psychotherapist and accredited coach.

Néstor is a senior academic at the Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University. He has significant research and doctoral research supervision experience in applied Systemic Thinking, and was a member of the Nottingham Contemporary’s Academic Advisory Board. Néstor is currently a co-investigator, and Chair of the ethics committee, for a £4.5million project that includes several European universities. This project aims to develop sustainable and energy efficient communities.
