A free, online creative workshop for people aged 55+. Join artist Elaine Winter for a fun workshop where we’ll take inspiration from the collection at Mr Straws House.
Take inspiration from the cultural venues featured on City Arts’ Armchair Gallery app. Following a virtual tour, artist Elaine will support you to make art based on the items and artefacts we discover. This is a great way to enjoy museums and galleries without leaving your home.
In this workshop, we will be looking at the collection at National Trust property, Mr Straws House. The modest semi-detached house has remained virtually unchanged since the Straws family moved there in 1923. For over 60 years they threw little away and chose to live without many of the modern comforts we take for granted today. Treasured possessions and ordinary domestic items can still be seen exactly where their owners left them.
There are 4 workshops in this series. We encourage you to book all four, however you can choose to attend just one. Each session will have a different focus. You do not need any previous experience of making art.
