A young child in a red coat and fluffy hood interacts with glowing metal chime instruments, gazing in wonder at the illuminated tubes.

Make some noise on our giant chimes at Nottingham Light Night 2025.

The instruments are tuned to the pentatonic scale, which means it’s almost impossible to hit a wrong note. Anyone can enjoy making music with them, no experience necessary! They were designed and built by musician Michael Davis, working in collaboration with City Arts.

An outdoor nighttime installation featuring large metal chime instruments arranged in X-shaped formations, illuminated by colorful lights.

We’ve commissioned composer Juliana Lisk to create a brand-new soundtrack for the instruments. Join us in Trinity Square and play along to the pulsating percussion!
