The Young Producers are a group of talented young artists and creatives (aged 18-30) that we support with their professional development, including helping them put on workshops, events and exhibitions. The group work together to support and encourage each other’s artistic and creative practice. It is open to anyone aged 18-30 who has passion for working with other like-minded people to generate new and exciting creative opportunities.
On Saturday 22 April, they kicked off their day-long WORD PLAY event with a poetry zine making workshop led by Young Producer Amelia Daiz. After lunch they hosted a lyric writing workshop with top Nottingham emcee and producer Juga-Naut. Jugz demonstrated idea generating exercises & introduced participants to some hip-hop history, before collaborating with the group on a beat and helping them to write lyrics to it.
For the WORD PLAY open mic event in the evening, the Young Producers mounted an exhibition of poetry based art from artists Lizzie Rimmer, Julia Shearer, Mollie Boyd, Joseph Winsburrow and Amelia Daiz. Eight incredible acts performed at the event, to an audience that filled the City Arts building. They were Raisa McClary-Francis, James Handley, Annasofie Moxon, Mollie Coyd, VEH Colectivo, Dave Wood, Milla Tebbs and Abii.
It was a truly fantastic event and we are very proud of everyone involved.
