Learn to make large scale carnival puppets and carnival costumes in a master-class with a leading artist from London School of Samba.

Dates: 1st to 5th August 2013
Cost: £20 for a five day workshop

Friday to Monday – 10.30 – 4pm

This is a great opportunity for you to learn from one of the best carnival companies in Britain.  Working with Rachel Maclachlan, an expert designer and maker from the UK’s original samba school, over the four days you will be shown techniques for making carnival puppets and costumes, explore what materials to use and discover how to build & decorate these colourful carnival characters.

During the master-class you will help us to create two fantastic horse puppets and four skeleton characters (see designs above). The characters will then be processed as part of City Arts Carnival Troupe at Nottingham Carnival and by London School of Samba at Notting Hill Carnival. There will be opportunity for you to get involved with the City Arts Carnival Troupe.
