City Arts and Artreach are looking for volunteer performers and dancers to take part in Night of Festivals when it comes to Nottingham in September 2013.  Previous performance experience is not necessary.  This is a great opportunity to get a taste of public performance, practice your performance skills and be part of an event that brightens Nottingham City Centre.

Performers in carnival pig costumesWe require fourteen volunteers:  six to wear the beautiful Mexican Day of the Dead inspired ‘Katrina’ costumes (image above) and eight to become ‘Napoleon Pigs’ (image right).  You will take part in a number of mini carnival processions/performances and interact with members of the public alongside a host of other colourful costumed characters.

The costumes have been created by Mandinga Arts, a leading UK carnival arts company.  There will be the opportunity to work with experienced staff from Mandinga, looking at costume, movement and performance.

Performances will happen on the 13th and 14th of September.  There will also be two sessions with Marianna from Mandinga, each two hours long.  The first sessions will take place August 29th or 30th.  The second sessions will take place September 7th or 8th.  Volunteers must be able to commit to these dates.

For more information about the project & to register your interest in becoming a volunteers please contact alison@city-arts.org.uk

Please share this opportunity with anyone who might be interested.  We look forward to hearing from you.
