The background features a vibrant, abstract artwork made up of colourful circles, shapes, and brushstrokes in pink, blue, green, red, and yellow tones. The 'City Arts' logo appears in the top left corner, and the exhibition title is written in bold white text at the bottom against a blue painted area.

Get Creative supports a group of artists who are learning disabled, experience mental health issues or are receiving other types of health care in the community. Weekly sessions act as a pop-up studio space for the artists. With one-on-one support from artist Dominique Cunnington and our team of volunteers, group members work on their own art projects.

A colourful, handmade model of a fantasy dragon-like creature standing upright. The figure is painted bright green with yellow accents, large blue eyes, and long black horns. It has blue wings, clawed feet, and carries two long spears, one in each hand. A brown strap crosses its chest, and its expression appears fierce yet playful. The background is plain white, making the model stand out clearly.

A colourful, handcrafted collage of a whimsical village scene titled 'Gonk City'. The artwork features cartoon-style houses in various shapes and colours, including one shaped like an apple and another like a beehive dripping with honey. There are paper and fabric flowers, foil details, and textured materials throughout. A gnome with bee wings is visible on the left, and the bottom edge is lined with vibrant artificial flowers.

‘My Art, My Way’ celebrates the richness of human difference. It highlights the value of individuality and the beauty that emerges when diverse voices are honoured and uplifted. This latest body of work marks a shift from the group’s previous collaborative exhibitions. It allows each artist’s individual voice to shine. Through their independent creations, the artists offer powerful glimpses into their unique artistic visions, passions, and journeys of personal exploration.

It’s about being ourselves

The exhibition is also an opportunity to hear more about the Get Creative project and what it means to the artists it supports.
