The Giant Who Slept for Ten Thousand Years

Date of event: 23 May 2026 Event start time: 2:00pm - Event end time: 4:00pm

Venue Address: Nottingham Central Library, 1 Carrington Street, Nottingham, NG1 7FH

A performer wearing blue overalls and a yellow helmet with a headlamp stands beside an open suitcase set, operating a red drill-like prop over a miniature landscape of houses and rocks.

A free puppet show and workshop for ages 3+.

Join us for an imaginative puppet show inspired by a Swedish folk tale. A whole world unfolds from a single suitcase.

Close-up of a small handmade puppet of a girl in a blue dress being held upright by a thin rod. A hand controls the puppet from above. Behind it is a colourful miniature set with painted houses, green hills and a winding river.

Our story begins 10,000 years ago, when giants roamed the land. A thrown pebble wakes a powerful sea troll. What follows is a journey through time, nature and the world around us.

Utterly captivating. A set filled with tiny little works of art. Magic.
