Bottletop Coasters

Day 35 isolation creation: Today I decided to try and make something with so the bottle tops my family have accumulated since self isolating (mostly from soft drinks, honest). I thought I'd give making coasters a go. Seemed a fitting re-purpose for bottle tops. I was very much experimenting as I went along with this, so if anyone has any ideas, please do share! I used: Hot glue gun Bottle tops Card Step 1: I gathered all the tops I had and stared laying them out, finding combos that I liked. I found a 3×3 layout was a good size for coasters. Step 2: Once I found a layout that I liked, I turned the tops over and tacked them together with hot glue. This is not strong enough for a finished coaster, but does temporarily hold them really well. Step 3: I drew around a coaster onto some card, and cut this out. You can round the edges if you like. Step 4: I put dabs of hot glue all around the tops, quickly turned this over and stuck it onto the card. Note: do be quick so that the hot glue does not set before you turn it over! Step 5: I filled in the negative spaces between and around the tops with hot glue. This had a resin effect, and it looked as though the tops were laid and set in resin. This will also strengthen the coaster and protect the card from water damage. Do let us know your thoughts, and please do pray your version with #youngproducersnottingham! #isolationcreations #art #artoftheday
