In partnership with Gedling Borough Council, City Arts supported the creation of a public art mural on the Honeywood Estate in Carlton, Nottingham. The work was commissioned to cover a row a vacant shop fronts. Members of the local community were involved in each stage of the project.
Artist, Anthony Donnelly of Urban Canvas, produced three impressive design proposals which were displayed in local shops and put to public vote. There was a clear winner and the public’s choice of design, incorporating images of Nottingham as it can be seen from the estate, was painted in October 2012.
The mural has transformed the area considerably and residents of the estate have responded very positively to the piece.
