Funded by Nottinghamshire County Council, The CAN-DO Film Festival is for no and low budget filmmakers based in Nottinghamshire and beyond. It will be a showcase for, and celebration of, short films made with very little budget (if any at all). Films must be less than 12 minutes long and selected films will be professionally screened at Thoresby Courtyard on the Festival day of April 12, 2015. The Festival is FREE to enter.
To inspire new filmmakers we are offering, at a special rate, a ‘Make a Movie in a Day’ Course.
This course introduces participants to the basics of filmmaking using iPads and iMovie. In the morning, we will look at the principles of filmmaking including:
- how to best use iPads and smartphones for filming
- the best techniques for creative shots
- lighting and sound and release forms
In the afternoon, participants will make a short Documentary or Drama film using iPads and learn how to edit and add titles.
The tutors are CAN-DO Director Gillian Bates and filmmaker Pamela Senior.
The aim of this course is to give participants the confidence and skills to use tablets and smartphones to make creative and professional looking films, whether for family and friends, or film exhibition. If you don’t have an iPad don’t worry – these will be supplied on the day. Although we are editing in iMovie, the skills you learn will cross over to PC and other software editing packages.
