City Arts partnered with Gateway to Nature, a Framework Housing Association project, to deliver an arts project in line with their nature-themed activities. Gateway to Nature is a service that help vulnerable people access nature. It is open to people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire who are disadvantaged by barriers such as a lack of information, social isolation, loss of confidence or health or transport problems. Artist Rosie Hobbs worked with participants who access Gateway to Nature’s Whitemoor allotment to create a permanent willow sculpture for the site.
The project concluded with an exhibition of photographs taken by participants and staff during the sessions. The exhibition ran from the 4th to 16th September at the City Gallery in the centre of Nottingham. A selection of images by young photographer Lewis Stainer were also displayed. The photographs in this image gallery are some of those that featured in the exhibition.
