Carlton Art Week is a festival that empowers Carlton residents to come together and share their passion for art, crafts and heritage. It consists of a series of exhibitions, a showcase of community creativity and free workshops.
The first Carlton Art Week is 23 – 30 October 2024. Its theme is ‘People and Place’.
Exhibitions
The Art Week features series of exhibitions by local professional and aspiring artists, presented in the cafes, shops and library on Carlton Hill. Some are displayed in shop windows and can be viewed from the street, others are show inside the shops, encouraging custom.
Community Showcase
Carlton Art Show is a celebration of local creativity. It takes place at Carlton Community Hub. The show will host an array of art and crafts created by local groups and citizen artists.
Workshops
Ahead of the festival, Jigsaw Homes residents are taking part in drawing workshops with professional artist Mik Godley. They’ll learn new skills and increase their wellbeing. The work they create will be displayed during Carlton Art Week.
The festival also features wellbeing focused walks exploring Carlton’s heritage, led Sam Culshaw-Robinson.
