This gallery contains images from an event in Gedling Borough Council’s Civic Centre at Arnot Hill Park, Arnold, celebrating the brilliant work of our Express Yourself participants. Photos are by Gedling Borough Council.
The Civic Centre’s atrium was transformed with an installation of flying bird sculptures. The sculptures and exhibition were designed by young people taking part in the Express Yourself project, who took inspiration from the wildlife in Arnot Hill Park.
Sculptor James Sutton, who worked with young people to create the installation, said:
“The aim of the project was to increase confidence, social skills and hopefully end up with something that participants could be proud of. We think that this design works really well in the space, and brings the park inside the Civic Centre.”
Gedling Borough Councillor Darrell Pulk said:
“These young people have captured the heart of our local park with this design, and I’m sure it’ll look fantastic in our reception area. The exhibition is a great example of how, by working with local partners, we can get positive results”
Express Yourself uses participation in the arts to develop young peoples’ creativity, confidence and self-esteem. The project is run by City Arts in partnership with Gedling Borough Council and the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
